IT’S HANDMADE

This listing is for a one of a kind ceramic bowl with a handcarved colorful sgraffito folk style design on the outside. Design is created with various underglazes, using sgraffito technique.

This original clay bowl is entirely hand-built and hand painted using various underglazes and food-safe transparent glaze.

At first I built the bowl using fine terracotta clay. Once the softness of the clay had reached ‘leather-hard’ stage, I applied underglazes and drew as well as carved out the design with folk-style motif and let it dry fully.

Next, the decorated piece went into the kiln to be bisque-fired at 1000 degrees Celsius. Then I added transparent glaze, and it went into the kiln again for the second firing.

This bowl is very tactile, with carved lines against smooth transparent glazes, that add to it’s charm.

The bowl is entirely food safe. It can be put in a dishwasher, but I would recommend washing it by hand.
