This listing is for a one of a kind ceramic serving plate with a composition of a folk-style flower and pomegranate motif in colorful underglazes, done in the sgraffito technique.

This original footed clay dish is handbuilt and decorated using various underglazes and food-safe transparent glaze.

At first I built the plate using fine terracotta clay. Once the softness of the clay had reached ‘leather-hard’ stage, I applied underglazes and drew as well as carved out the design with folk-style motif.

Next, the decorated plate went into the kiln to be bisque-fired at 1000 degrees Celsius. Then I added transparent glaze, and it went into the kiln again for the second firing.

Please note that due to its unique handmade nature the plate might have some imperfections, which add to it’s charm.

This plate is entirely food safe. It can be put in a dishwasher, but I would recommend washing it by hand.
