This listing is for a one of a kind ceramic footed plate with a folk style-inspired lion and flower design on a colorful background. Design is created with underglazes, using sgraffito technique.

This original ceramic object is entirely handbuilt and hand painted using various underglazes and food-safe transparent glaze.

At first I built the plate using fine terracotta clay. Once the softness of the clay had reached ‘leather-hard’ stage, I applied underglazes and drew as well as carved out the design with folk-style motif, and then I let the plate get fully dry.

Next, the decorated plate went into the kiln to be bisque-fired at 1000 degrees Celsius. Then I added transparent glaze, and it went into the kiln again for the second firing.

This plate is very tactile, with carved lines against smooth transparent glazes, which add to it’s charm.

This footed plate is entirely food safe. It can be put in a dishwasher, but I would recommend washing it by hand.
