IT’S HANDMADE

This listing is for a one of a kind small ceramic bowl with a handcarved colorful sgraffito design on the inside. Design is created with vibrant underglazes, using sgraffito technique.

This original small clay bowl is entirely handbuilt, hand painted and hand carved using various underglazes and food-safe transparent glaze.

At first I built the object using fine terracotta clay. Once the softness of the clay had reached ‘leather-hard’ stage, I applied underglazes and drew as well as carved out the design with floral motif and let it dry fully.

Next, the decorated piece went into the kiln to be bisque-fired at 1000 degrees Celsius. Then I added transparent glaze, and it went into the kiln again for the second firing.

This bowl is very tactile, with carved lines against smooth transparent glaze, which add to it’s charm.

The bowl is entirely food safe. It can be put in a dishwasher, but I would recommend washing it by hand.
