IT’S HANDMADE

This listing is for a one of a kind ceramic salt bowl with a handcarved colorful sgraffito design on the inside. Design is created with vibrant underglazes, using sgraffito technique.

This original tiny clay salt cellar is entirely handbuilt and hand painted using underglazes and food-safe transparent glaze.

At first I built the object using fine terracotta clay. Once the softness of the clay had reached ‘leather-hard’ stage, I applied underglazes and drew as well as carved out the design with folk-style motif and let it dry fully.

Next, the decorated piece went into the kiln to be bisque-fired at 1000 degrees Celsius. Then I added transparent glaze, and it went into the kiln again for the second firing.

This bowl is very tactile, with carved lines against smooth transparent glazes, which add to it’s charm.

The salt bowl is entirely food safe. It can be put in a dishwasher, but I would recommend washing it by hand.
