This listing is for a one of a kind ceramic serving plate with a composition of a folk-style lion portrait in black, pink, cream and blue underglazes, all done in the sgraffito technique.

This original clay dish is handbuilt and decorated using various underglazes and food-safe transparent glaze.

At first I built the plate using fine terracotta clay. Once the softness of the clay had reached ‘leather-hard’ stage, I applied underglazes and drew as well as carved out the design with folk-style lion.

Next, the decorated plate went into the kiln to be bisque-fired at 1000 degrees Celsius. Then I added transparent glaze, and it went into the kiln again for the second firing.

Please note that due to its handmade nature the plate might have some imperfections.

This plate is entirely food safe. It can be put in a dishwasher, but I would recommend washing it by hand.
