This means that the drawing is painted on the clay object whilst the clay is still wet, yet has reached the so-called ‘leather hard’ stage. After application of the underglaze, the details of the design are carefully carved out by hand.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eOnce the ceramic object has dried completely, it is fired in a kiln at 1000 degrees C to bisque.
