It is one of a kind, hand-built from the bottom to the top.\u003c\/p\u003e \n\n\u003cp\u003eIt is hand-painted using underglazes (engobes) and a decoration technique called sgraffito. This means that the drawing is painted on the clay object whilst the clay is still wet, yet has reached the so-called ‘leather hard’ stage. After application of the underglaze, the details of the design are carefully carved out by hand.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eOnce the clay object has dried completely, it is fired in a kiln at 1000 degrees C to bisque.
