Design is created with colorful underglazes, using sgraffito technique.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThis original footed clay dish is entirely handbuilt and hand painted using various underglazes and food-safe transparent glaze.\u003c\/p\u003e \n\n\u003cp\u003eAt first I built the plate using fine terracotta clay. Once the softness of the clay had reached ‘leather-hard’ stage, I applied underglazes and drew as well as carved out the design with folk-style motif.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eNext, the decorated plate went into the kiln to be bisque-fired at 1000 degrees Celsius. Then I added transparent glaze, and it went into the kiln again for the second firing.\u003c\/p\u003e \n\n\u003cp\u003eThis plate is very tactile, with carved lines against smooth transparent glazes, which add to it’s charm.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThis plate is entirely food safe.
