The handpainted design is created with colorful underglazes, using sgraffito technique.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThis original ceramic object is entirely hand-built, carved and painted using various underglazes and food-safe transparent glaze.\u003c\/p\u003e \n\n\u003cp\u003eAt first I created the mask using fine white clay. Once the softness of the clay had reached ‘leather-hard’ stage, I applied underglazes and drew as well as carved out the pattern. Then I let the mask get fully dry.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eNext, the decorated mask went into the kiln to be bisque-fired at 1000 degrees Celsius. Then I added transparent glaze, and it went into the kiln again for the second firing.\u003c\/p\u003e \n\n\u003cp\u003eThis beautiful, one of a kind mask is very tactile, with carved lines against smooth transparent glaze, which add to it’s charm.
